What is Lay Leader Shabbat? 

It’s a Shabbat where the clergy of Beth David do not officiate, even when present, but rather watch and participate in a service run by our very talented Lay Leaders at Beth David.  Over the last 22 years, Michael and Marshall have trained and helped many members learn to read Torah, Haftorah, as well as daven and lead all parts of all services.

On July 2nd, Esther Meisels will lead Pesukei D’zimrah, and Jay Silverstein will lead Shaharit and Musaf.  Isaac Szpindel will announce pages and run the service as well as deliver a short D’var Torah and introduce  the Torah reading.  Faye Major will look after giving out the aliyot and honours  with the assistance of Adele Randall,  making sure that the honourees feel comfortable in their participation.
