Rabbi Vernon Kurtz was born in Toronto, graduated from York University, ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary and served Conservative congregations in Chicago for over 40 years. He is currently Rabbi Emeritus of North Suburban Synagogue Beth El in Highland Park, Illinois.  Rabbi Kurtz served in leadership positions in the Conservative Movement and the Zionist Movement including President of the international Rabbinical Assembly, President of Mercaz USA and Mercaz Olami and President of the American Zionist Movement. Rabbi Kurtz and his wife Bryna made Aliyah in June 2019, live in Jerusalem and are blessed with two daughters, two sons-in-laws and six grandchildren.
