From the Youth Department

I wanted to introduce myself to those of you who haven't had the chance to meet me. I am Leah Weinstein, the new Youth Director. I am very excited to be working with the amazing staff at Beth David. As the Youth Director, I will be overseeing all the youth programming, from our amazing Yedidim and Kadima programs to our USYers. I will as well be coordinating all of the High Holy Day programs, and helping with some of the Family Programs.

The youth department has already been planning exciting programs for the new year. This year, we have rearranged the roles of our advisors in the youth department. As well, David Wallach is now our Kadima Advisor and Erin Lehrer is still our USY Advisor. Erin and I will be planning the Yedidim programs together this year. Our Dynamic and Energetic staff is very excited for the New Year!

Are you wondering about our Opening Programs? Well, USY will be having it's opening program on August 29th Go Karting from 3:00-7:00pm. We will be travelling to Centennial Mini-Indy by way of a party bus, and will enjoy racing against each other, seeing old faces and meeting new faces! Kadima, (Grades 6-8) will be having their opening program Sunday September 19th from 12-3:30pm. We will be travelling downtown to the National Film Board to create our own animations, for Animator for a day! Yedidim will kick off this year with Sukkah Decorating, September 19th from 2-4 pm. All children Grade 1-5 are invited to come and create amazing Sukkah decorations, play some fun games and help make our Sukkah beautiful. All our youth groups are invited to come to our Sukkah hop, September 26th to enjoy in the fun!

Want to make a difference at your Synagogue? Do you need to fill community service requirements? Click here for an APPLICATION FORM In order to help provide opportunities for all interested high school students to acquire community service hours throughout the 2010-2011 academic year, we are requesting that you please complete our double-sided application and return it at your earliest opportunity to the synagogue. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. By completing this form, you will assist us in attempting to meet your placement preferences, as well as provide us with an understanding of your desired outcomes from volunteering. In the interest of maximizing the number of youth engaged with our community service program, we are offering many opportunities to get involved.
