In Parashat Vaera, Moshe tries to let the Jewish People know that they are about to be freed from being slaves in Egypt, but they aren't paying much attention at this point. It says in the Parasha, "they didn't heed Moshe because of shortness of breath." Perhaps the reason the Jews weren't buying Moshe's words was because when Moshe spoke to them about G-d redeeming them now, maybe his delivery was lacking. The words were coming out of his mouth but he wasn't selling it! I find this personally shocking. Here's Moshe who has already proven his trustworthiness and he's telling them it's time to, "get out of Dodge" (if you get that pun), and in my thinking, his delivery of the words shouldn't matter at all.
Rabbi Levi Ben Gershon known as the Ralbag who lived between 1288 and 1344 C.E. teaches us that speaking in a manner that people will listen is very important. Although, the content and the person delivering the message should mean everything, sometimes one's oratory skills and delivery make all the difference in the world. Had Moshe spent a little more time on those factors, he would have been effective immediately.
While it is true that the most important element of a message is the content, it is also just as important that our thoughts are organized, polished, and persuasive. This lesson teaches us to invest the time and energy into both our ideas and and an effective delivery so that we have the ability to impact others positively with our words.

Dear Proficient, Experienced or Considering-it-for-the-First-Time Megillat Esther Chanter!
It’s been too long since we had the opportunity to consider breaking our record for most chanters at a Purim reading, but……..opportunity now knocks! COVID may still be here, but so are we!!
For those of you who participated in our past record-breaking events, I would love you to do it again to help us break the current record of 96. Not only that, but I would be happy if you were to read the same section as in previous years, if not taken by some other motivated Megillah master! What could be easier? Just a little review and you’re all set. For those of you who have never yet chanted Megillat Esther, this is your year to enter the fray! All you need to do is demonstrate willingness and I will be happy to provide you with all the necessary materials to be empowered to join this distinguished group!
Please be in touch with me or Faye as soon as possible to confirm your place in the Beth David Purim tradition of Multiple Megillah Masters!
