Welcome Rabbi Becca Walker

Rabbi Becca Walker joins Beth David Clergy Team
The Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that Rabbi Becca Walker will be joining Beth David’s clergy team as our Outreach and Engagement Rabbi on August 1, 2019. This position has been created through a very generous donation provided expressly for the purpose of engaging with young families, young adults and youth in our community.
For the past three years, Rabbi Walker has been the Senior Jewish Educator at Michigan State University Hillel and Hillel Campus Alliance of Michigan. As the Rabbinic resource for 11 campuses across Michigan, she connected with and educated hundreds of university students. She will bring that same enthusiasm for teaching and engagement to her new role here at Beth David, where she will focus on engaging with young families, young adults and youth through social action, community building, and Jewish ritual and learning.
Rabbi Walker is originally from the Boston area and graduated with a BA in Religion from Columbia University and a BA in Talmud from the Jewish Theological Seminary.  She was ordained in 2016 at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles. While a Rabbinic student, she was a chaplain intern and was selected by her peers to lead the daily minyan, where she added daily breakfasts to help transform the rabbinical students into a worship community. Rabbi Walker will use her experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to build the new role of Outreach and Engagement Rabbi at Beth David.
I know that you will all join me in warmly welcoming Rabbi Walker to our Beth David community. Grateful thanks to the members of the Search Committee for their hard work: Barry Levine, Madeleine Sarick, Sara Levine, Howard Simkevitz, Silvia Lulka, Michael Rubin and Rabbi Scheim.
