Post B'nai Mitzvah Program

Dear B Mitzvah families, 

I'm very excited to be joining Michael Rubin to lead the Beth David B’nai Mitzvah program this coming January 27th through March 31st.

This program is intended to create meaningful engagement with Jewish tradition and the important questions of what it means to be a Jew today. Our focus will be on building real connections - to Jewish tradition, peoplehood and the Conservative Jewish approach; connections to the experience of becoming b’nai mitzvah, to one another in our group, and Beth David and the Toronto Jewish community. 

Michael and I will seek to balance our learning about and discussing with direct engagement. Our approach will be honest, real and non-judgmental– we want each participant to grow their own authentic Jewish identity, honoring the truth of who they are and where they come from.

We ae very much looking forward to this experience together! Please let me or Michael know if you have any questions about our program and whether it is a good fit for your family, or if you would like to find a time to connect before our first session– I am looking forward to getting to know you!

Monday, February 3rd 7:00-8:15 PM – Hessed and Lending a Hand
We will discuss BM Hessed project options and will also be designing our own 3D-printed Yad. These will need to be finished by the following week so they can be sent to the printer.
(B Mitzvah only)

Sunday, February 9th 3:00 – 6:00 PM – Preparing and Serving Dinner at a downtown shelter
(With Parents)

Monday, February 17th – Family Day – NO PROGRAM

Monday, February 24th – 7:00-8:15 PM - Our Connection with the Sho’ah
We will be walking over to the Yad Vashem memorial at Earl Bales so dressing warmly for this session is required.
(B Mitzvah only)

Monday, March 3rd – 6:50 – 8:15 PM    How Does Judaism Cope with Death?
We will be meeting at Benjamins, 2401 Steeles Ave W, North York, ON M3J 2P1, at 6:50pm.
One parent required to attend

Monday, March 10th – March Break – NO PROGRAM

Wednesday, March 13th – Megillah Reading and Purim Carnival at Beth David

Monday, March 17th- 6:00 – 7:15 PM    Al Tashlicheinu – Do Not Send Us Away
We will visit the Baycrest Centre with an opportunity to engage with residents there. (In order to accommodate the residents, the visit will be a bit earlier than our usual program time.)

Friday, March 21st – 6:00 - 8:00 PM - Kabbalat Shabbat and Dinner
open to the entire family  - $10/adult, $5/child

Monday, March 31st – 7:00-8:15 PM - Final Session
