No Silence on Race- A Panel discussion

7:30 PM - 8:30 PMJoin us for a Panel conversation with two of the team members of No Silence on Race, an anti-racism initiative for the Canadian Jewish community, moderated by Rabbi Walker. We will hear from Founder Sarah Yacobi-Harris and Akilah Allen-Silverstein. This is an important next step in thinking about how our community can continue to build and move forward in our anti-racism work. This program will be in a Q & A format with set questions, but some time at the end for a few questions submitted from the audience.

Akilah Allen-Silverstein
Akilah lives in Toronto and is a Certified Financial Planner and Registered Retirement Consultant with Mandeville Private Client. Her own brand Silverstein Wealth has adopted the mantra – Integrity, Professionalism & Diligence. Akilah is on the board of the East York Rotary club which supports various local and international charitable organizations year-round. She presently serves on the board of the Birthright Israel Foundation Canada Youth Leadership Counsel and she is also a mentor to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) high school and university students. She is co-founder of the movement No Silence On Race, an organization dedicated to creating more inclusive, anti-racist and equitable Jewish spaces, a Jewish community which not only accepts Jews of Colour but celebrates our existence.
Sara Yacobi-Harris
Sara Yacobi-Harris is the founder of No Silence on Race. She is an artist and community organizer. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree at the University of Toronto with a focus on critical race theory, Jewish studies and community development. In 2017, Sara produced and directed a documentary film titled Who is a Jew? The documentary explores the roots of cultural and ethnic identity and the experience of Black Jews and Jews of Colour in Toronto.
