Update on Strategic Options, Membership Engagement, and Town Halls Thursday, January 19, 2023
Dear Beth David Members,
I’m writing to update you on our ongoing efforts to secure the Beth David B’nai Israel Beth Am community’s future in light of ongoing financial and membership challenges. Our continuing objective is to ensure that Beth David can pursue our Vision of a progressive, engaging, Egalitarian Conservative community that will serve and support Members of all ages and interests well into the future.
In recent months, we’ve been speaking with Conservative synagogues, large and small, across the Greater Toronto Area. Most are experiencing similar challenges and many are looking at their strategic options, including mergers. As these opportunities evolve, we hope to announce one or more initiatives that we will pursue soon, including remaining independent, and will welcome your questions and feedback.
During our Town Hall discussions in late October 2022, many ideas and suggestions were raised about how to better engage Beth David Members of all ages as we continue to emerge from the restrictions of the pandemic. We’ve identified a number of initiatives that volunteers will be rolling out in the coming weeks and months, and we look forward to your participation.
In the meantime, please join us for the next in a series of Town Hall discussions about the future of Beth David on Thursday evening, February 9th at 7:30 pm on Zoom and on Sunday, February 12th at 10:00 a.m. in person at Beth David. Registration on www.bethdavid.com for both sessions, including optional pre-submission of questions, will be arranged soon.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, thank you for your continuing support of Beth David.
