FAMILIES

The weather is getting colder, but our Beth David family programming continues to heat up. Speaking of hot and cold, our Fire 'N Ice Havdallah program was a huge success. Yuval Derry, one of our emissaries from Israel, played the guitar while leading a lovely Havdallah service right on the skating rink! We had the use of three skating rinks at the Future Stars Arena: a rink for family skating, another for our youngest skaters who are just learning, and one for hockey. There was also a tempting dessert bar and the opportunity to play virtual hockey games. Many thanks to Majer Hockey for providing complimentary skate rentals to those who did not own skates.

Our annual Hanukkah party was also a big hit. Once again, the Magen Boys really had us dancing up a storm. Children of all ages enjoyed the games, the make-your own edible Hanukkiah, sufganiot, cookie decorating, and so much more. We also had the pleasure of having a children's author, Karen Fisman, read from her book, An Adventure in Latkaland: A Hanukkah Story.

Our musical Havdallah program at Baycrest was a very special evening. We participated in a lovely Havdallah service led by Cantor Loomer who was accompanied by the guitar playing of Deborah Maes. Our emissaries, Yuval Derry and Gal Meshoulam, also enhanced the evening with their Tu B'Shevat themed presentation. It was a wonderful opportunity to take part in this special mitzvah. The residents of Baycrest were especially thrilled to meet and interact with some of our youngest members.

We have scheduled more exciting events you won't want to miss! Come out to have fun, make new friends, and meet other families. New faces are always welcome and urged to join us.

Here are some program highlights that will take place over the next couple of months:

Please join us for a Passover-themed family Shabbat service preceded by a delicious breakfast. There is no cost, but please R.S.V.P. to the synagogue office so we know how much food to order.

We are always looking for people to help out and join the Families Committee. If you are interested in joining, please contact the shul office and leave a message for Ettie Schimmer, chair Families Committee.

On behalf of myself and my family, I wish all of you a Shana Tova U'Metukah.
