About Club Chaverut

If you are 55 or over, and would like to come out for an afternoon of entertainment to enjoy refreshments and meet new friends, or participate in outings and theatre trips, Club Chaverut is just what you are looking for. We meet on designated Sunday afternoons, in the  autumn, winter, spring, and summer.

From the Club Chaverut President

Eleven times a year Club Chaverut puts on programs in the Ganz Family Social Hall tailored to the wide interests of our members. From Jazz Bands to Musical Theater, Sandy Bokser combs the city to bring you the finest entertainers available.

What is a Jewish event without food? Shelly Glass and his team serve tasty refreshments at each of our Sunday programs. We know that our members like to sit and schmooze with their friends. An urn of coffee is set up in the Ganz Family Social Hall, a half hour prior to each program. Participants are invited to come early and socialize.

Leona Eligberg and Ruth Shapiro plan our excursions. They look at what is being offered at The Stratford Festival, at the Shaw Festival and at the Capital Theatre in Port Hope and then our excursion planners choose the best that each location has to offer. An air conditioned bus picks people up at the Shul and whisks them in comfort to the theater.

We try to keep our members informed of Club activities. Clifford White and Anna Bloom edit our newsletter, “The Chaverim Report” which is sent out four times a year. Rose Haspel’s, phoning committee calls prior to each performance.

Please join us in our activities. You will never find a friendlier group of people.
